About Kevin Murphy
Kevin Murphy is a folk-punk powerhouse known for their energetic delivery and heartfelt, socially conscious lyrics. Whether performing solo or with a band (Kevin Murphy’s Murder), they leave it all on the stage and pack a searingly high energy performance. Kevin has carved out a place in Toronto’s independent music scene and beyond, performing all over and building community at home through booking shows and hosting open mics. They have shared the stage with touring acts like Joe Keithley (DOA), Frankie Stubbs (Leatherface), The Flatliners, The Independents, and Chuck Coles (The Creepshow / Organ Thieves).

Kevin is a songwriter first and foremost, approaching music with honest simplicity and punk rock energy. Their songs are sung in pursuit of honest self expression, through furious strumming and lyrics belted out with unbridled feeling and impressive range. Whether tackling social issues, the pursuit of a better self, or more often, the intersection of the two, Kevin Murphy is a songwriter who refuses to hold anything back.
Kevin’s first full-length album, Fireweed, will be available digitally and on vinyl on July 4th, 2025. Produced by Chuck Coles and Adam Michael, it is a collection of songs written between late 2021 and 2023 that reflect both the social and political climate of the time, and a journey of personal growth and development in the wake of major life changes and self discovery. More than anything, Fireweed embraces the idea that we are responsible for how we shape the world around us and within us, what we allow to thrive in our presence, and who we choose to be in a culture too often defined by skewed priorities, dehumanizing policies, bigotry and violence.
